GLP-1 peptide bioactivity and relative potency

Cell-based luciferase reporter assays measure the response downstream of receptor activation. A study can use target-specific cells to generate dose–response curves and compare relative potency when the reference material and assay meet the study criteria.

Research questions

  • How does semaglutide activate GLP-1R in the selected reporter system?
  • How do tirzepatide responses compare on GLP-1R and GIPR when measured separately?
  • How do retatrutide batches compare with a reference on GLP-1R, GIPR and GCGR?

What the report can include

  • Dose–response curves by receptor, fitted parameters and EC50 when supported by the data.
  • Relative potency and agreed statistical outputs when the sample and reference meet comparison criteria.
  • Study conditions, reference material, evaluation rules and interpretation for the agreed comparisons.

How to interpret the results

EC50 describes the fitted response in the specified system. Relative potency compares test and reference within the same receptor system after checking curve quality and comparability. Cross-receptor readouts require a defined comparison strategy. Cagrilintide is an amylin analog and needs a separate receptor assay feasibility assessment.

Before sending samples

Provide the target receptor, study purpose, sample and reference identity, lot information, concentration assignment, formulation and comparison requirements. Confirm method development, validation and reporting scope for the intended use before testing.
